On behalf of the religious school community, we congratulate Cantor Rabbi Kelly Onickel on her ordination! We are excited to celebrate with her at Shabbat services on Friday, May 1. The celebration continues Sunday, May 3, when all are invited to a concert and festive luncheon. Students will participate in the presentation on May 3 and should arrive by 11:30am to prepare for the noon event. Please join in the celebration.
Mazel tov this month to Max Nagy and Maya Durbin! Both students will be called up to the Torah as B’nai Mitzvah, and we hope you will join us for worship and simchah.
Max becomes a bar mitzvah on Saturday, May 9, and Maya becomes a bat mitzvah on Saturday, May 30. We are proud of them both and congratulate the Nagy and Durbin families. Everyone is encouraged to attend these services and celebrate together as a community.
Sunday, May 10, is Mother’s Day, so religious school will not meet.
Recognition and much gratitude go to our Sunday school and Hebrew teachers who dedicate themselves to educating our young students. Thank you to Kathy Nystrom, Helaine Ledany, Yardena Cohen, Cantor Kelly and Rabbi Rose for your caring guidance this year. Families are invited for food and games to wrap up our Sunday school year and thank our staff at Teacher Appreciation Day on Sunday, May 17.
Hebrew tutoring meets on Wednesdays, May 6, 13 and 20. Over the summer months, we will continue offering Hebrew tutoring to students by appointment. Please contact us if you would like your child to receive lessons over the summer.
Together, we will celebrate Shavuot on Friday, May 22, during the Shabbat service at 6:30pm, followed by a yummy oneg Shabbat.
Whether you are traveling, attending summer camp, or enjoying a staycation, we hope you have a safe and cheerful summer break. Of course, we will still be here each Shabbat and would love to have you join us.
Am Yisrael Chai!
