It’s the month of Adar and we love to celebrate Purim! This month we offer a few different opportunities to enjoy this holiday (that happens this year to coincide with our school spring break).
On Sunday, March 13 we will bake hamentaschen during Religious School hours. These hamantaschen will be packed in mishloach manot bags by our Caring Community group and then delivered out in the community. Of course there will be some made for students to enjoy at home as well! We need some volunteers to make the dough in advance. If you can do this, please contact Mindy Pollack. (Please note that this is a date change from our original calendar.)
Then, on Sunday March 20, we invite our entire congregation and especially our families to travel to Pt. Saint Lucie to Temple Beth-El Israel to enjoy the Purim extravaganza that they are sponsoring. Children should wear costumes and participate in the costume parade and megillah reading beginning at 10am. Following that will be a fun-filled day of games, displays, food trucks and more. We hope you go to enjoy the festivities. There is no Sunday school on that day in Vero (March 20).
On Friday evening, March 25 story teller, Jordan Hill, will be our guest at Shabbat services. Surely a taste of Purim fun will be had that night. But plan to come back on Saturday night, March 26 when Jordan Hill will perform for an adult audience beginning at 7pm. This event is being organized by our Enrichment Committee and we appreciate their efforts to bring this entertainment to us.
The next family Shabbat will be on Friday, March 18. Our youngest students (PreK-Grade 2) will help lead us in worship, while our 7th graders will make a presentation. Grades 3-4 will lead us in song and Grades 5-6 will display their work in the Social Hall. This is a night when our whole school can come together to enjoy Shabbat together. It is a great way to meet the families of our congregation and stay in touch with our young people. Please join us.
Hebrew school meets on Wednesday, March 2, 16 and 30. Hebrew classes will NOT meet on March 9 or 23 due to Spring Breaks. Please mark your calendars.
Looking forward, jot down the date, April 8, as we plan to honor our graduating seniors that night.
