L’dor V’dor Leave a Legacy

Jewish tradition states one of our key duties is to make the world a better place for future generations. The “Leave a Legacy” Initiative honors our committed Temple members and friends who are securing our future by naming Temple Beth Shalom in their will or estate plans. All legacy gifts, regardless of size, make a meaningful difference and we are deeply grateful. Your legacy can reflect everything that is most important and meaningful to you.

Easy ways to make a meaningful gift.

Charitable Request

A simple codicil to your existing will is one of three simple ways to make a gift. Bequests are a gift through your living will or trust that enable you to leave a percentage of your estate, a specific amount, or the residue of your estate to the charity of your choice. Bequests do not affect your assets or cash flow during your lifetime and reduce potential estate tax obligations Capital gains tax may also be eliminated depending on the type of asset you give.

Life Insurance Policies

Request a change of beneficiary form from your insurance carrier, complete it, and mail it back and you’re done. You can name your favorite charity as a beneficiary or partial beneficiary of a life insurance policy that you already own, but no longer need. It’s as simple as reviewing the current coverage you have, assessing your needs, and directing the rest to a make a meaningful gift.

Retirement Plans or IRAs

It’s as simple as requesting a change of beneficiary form, completing and submitting it. You can name the charity you’ve supported annually as the primary or contingent beneficiary of a retirement plan or IRA. This option could afford you significant tax savings.
