October 2015 Simply Sisterhood

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

I occasionally wonder why Temple Beth Shalom’s Sisterhood is such a success. I am immediately struck by the answer to this query. Sisterhood is strong because of its members. We are a welcoming, caring group of women who, when called into action, are powerful! Volunteerism is the backbone of our Sisterhood. So many of you have stepped up when called upon in order to achieve our common goals: promoting closer fellowship among its members and supporting religious, social and educational activities in cooperation with the congregation.

I send a special toda, or thank you, to volunteers Carol Resnick and her committee for planning, shopping and setting up a delicious Yom Kippur Break Fast; to Jane Bialosky for lighting up the Social Hall with beautiful flowers. Also, once again, we thank Einstein Bagels for their generous bagel donation. And certainly, hats off to the amazing chefs who prepared our delicious Break Fast meal.

I also thank Paulette Liebman for hosting a successful mini-mah jong tournament in her lovely home. Thanks to Paulette’s time, energy and commitment to Sisterhood, she raised close to $300.00! Way to go, Paulette!

Sisterhood’s Autumn Tea was held on October 4th, at which 50+ women were in attendance. A big thank you goes to Barbara Ebstein for graciously opening her home and her heart to Sisterhood and to Danna Sonnenberg for organizing the event. Once again our Sisterhood chefs came through with a delicious array of food.

Sisterhood has many upcoming programs I think you will enjoy. On October 20th at four o’clock in the Bayit, Ellen Deschatres will present Candid Conversations, a discussion of emotional and spiritual issues which face Jewish women every day.

Join us on November 10th, weather permitting, for a River Explorer River Cruise. See the attached flyers for further information. A huge thank you goes to Sisterhood’s Program and Events Chair, Bobbi Feiertag, who has worked tirelessly planning these educational and social events.

Sisterhood cannot exist without our incredible volunteers. They cook, set up, open their homes, plan, work in the gift shop, make telephone calls, and on and on. Please contact me if you would like to perform the mitzvah of volunteering your time.

I’d love to chat with you, so feel free to contact me at 513 739-0521 or weltman5050@gmail.com.
