December scroll article 2015

Well, if it’s not going to be a cold December, at least let it be bright! Please join us on Friday, December 11 for the Hanukah Shining Lights Shabbat service and enjoy the beauty of our Hanukiyah aglow with the lights of our Shining Light sponsors. If you would like to become a Shining Light, promoting Jewish education and supporting our Religious School, please contact Mindy Lessem Pollack to find out what you can do. Shining Light sponsors will be honored at the service on December 11 and named in the upcoming issue of The Scroll.
Kol haKavod to Jack Zoltak on his being called to the Torah as a Bar Mitzvah on Saturday, December 5. Please celebrate this simcha with the Zoltak family at services that Shabbat and join us in wishing Jack a Mazal Tov!
On Sunday, December 6 parents and grandparents are invited to attend Sunday school with their children for our Tzedakah/Hanukah Family Day program. This will be a special day of activities to enjoy together. The program will follow regular Religious School hours, 9:30am-noon. See the article in this issue of the Scroll for more details.
We thank everyone who participated in the Family Shabbat service on November 20 for the warm feeling of friends and family; from our students who led us in worship, sang, acted and presented their art work, to our parents who sponsored the delicious Oneg Shabbat that followed. The students enjoy sharing what they learn in Religious School with our congregation. The congregation’s support and encouragement is most appreciated.
Religious School meets on Sundays, December 6 and 13 and on Wednesdays, December 2, 9 and 16. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable winter break, and look forward to welcoming students back on Sunday, January 3.
Happy Hanukah!
